All Cress Gallery events are free and open to campus and community.

Cress events range from artist's lectures, presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and gallery talks as well as informal receptions that provide an opportunity for one on one conversation with the artists in association with exhibitions of their work.

The new downtown ConTemporary Cress has closed for the remainder of the academic summer semester. Meanwhile Cress staff members are busy preparing for an exciting upcoming schedule while state-of-the-art renovations to its campus location continue full steam towards the reopening of that flagship space in 2021! All of us at the Cress wish everyone an adventurous art-filled summer. Thanks everyone for your support and we look forward to seeing you (and more) again in the cool breeze of Fall.

NEW LOCATION & NEW SUMMER HOURS!: 12:00 - 6:00pm Wednesday - Friday; 1:00 - 4:00pm Weekends; closed Monday and Tuesday. Currently featured in the downtown ConTemporary Cress "Foundations / Animations" 101 one-minute hand drawn charcoal animations by first year art majors enrolled in UTC's Expanded Drawing studio class. Make your plans to visit this amazing show displayed across 7 flatscreens at the NEW ConTemporary Cress located at 123 E. 7th St. (near the corner of Walnut St.), the Cress Gallery's vibrant storefront location during the renovation of the UTC Fine Arts Center.

The Cress has moved to a storefront space at 123 East 7th Street between Walnut and Cherry Streets near the corner of Walnut. First up in the space are the UTC Dept. of Art Senior BFA Thesis Exhibitions! Show Two opens Tue, April 16 with presentations in Room 201 Derthick Hall, 624 Vine St., 5:00 - 6:30pm. Reception follows behind Derthick on the New Library Plaza. Visitors may park FREE after 4pm in UTC lots 26 & 39 accessible via Oak street on the West (downtown) side of campus. The UTC minibus will shuttle guests from Douglas St. by the UTC New Library to the NEW conTemporary Cress or an easy 10 minute walk. Show One April 16 - 26. Hours are 12- 6pm Tuesday - Friday; 1 - 4pm Sat & Sun; closed Mondays and April 19..

This year's Juror, Jill Frank, Assistant Professor in the Welch School of Art and Design at Georgia State University, returns to UTC to present a lecture about her own work at 5:30pm, Tuesday Jan. 22, in the Benwood Auditorium of the EMCS building directly across Vine Street from the Fine Art Center & the Cress. Following, at approximately 6:30pm in the lobby of the Cress, the exhibition will be celebrated with a reception and an award presentation. Click the News Tab for a full list of accepted students and entries. This event is open to the public; admission is free. Note: Visitors may park free after 5:00pm in any UTC lot not marked "24 Hour Reserved."

The Cress announces Finals Week / Semester End hours: Beginning Tuesday Nov. 03 and thru Wednesday Dec. 12, the Gallery will be open weekdays from 10:00am - 4:00pm and closed Saturday and Sunday Dec. 08 & 09. Don't miss your chance to see "The Clamor of Ordinary Things".

The Cress will close at 5:00 pm Wednesday, Nov. 21 thru Sunday Nov. 25 for the holiday and administrative closing. The Cress will reopen Monday, Nov. 26 for regular weekday and weekend hours thru Dec. 12. THE CRESS WILL BE CLOSED TODAY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 04, DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE STREET CLOSURES AND DISRUPTION SURROUNDING THE PAID POLITICAL EVENT AT THE UTC ARENA.
